“KUKUNIN KA NA NI LORD”

On matters of faith, we really cannot allow ourselves to make it the subject of a joke. Humor, yes but only when the manner by which it is to be said would not be sacrilegious, disrespectful and a mockery. The intention is to send home a message that will be beneficial to the person and others.

We often hear “kukunin ka na ni Lord”. Obviously, the intention of the person is to make fun of the situation, and it is a joke wishing the death of another person. This is certainly objectionable, and though we may not be students of theology or higher learning about our faith, the point is that the name of the Lord is used in vain, and therefore, a sin.

From a positive and sincerely religious point of view of a devout faithful, it is a truth – a clear declaration of reality that we should keep in mind the fact that anytime, we may be called upon to leave this world.

If that happens, are we prepared? If we were told in a manner that would be in accord with the Catholic faith, that the Lord will already summon us to the other life, are we ready? What if we are not prepared and we would be caught by surprise? Does that mean, we don’t end up with eternal life?

Pray that you may be given the grace of repentance, and look forward immediately to the sacrament of reconciliation. Time is of the essence. Every moment counts. Act now before its too late.
