Imitating Christ or committing oneself into doing what Jesus did is not a joke. It is a very sacred vow and not intended for ordinary temporal purposes or to entertain anyone. While God will not allow sufferings or difficulties which are unbearable or unsurmountable, it is wrong to anticipate His mercy. One may not know what will happen. What if it is a point of no return.
